The Trade Pact That Could Stitch Africa's Textile Industry Together

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) provides African cotton, textile, and clothing businesses the opportunity to create cross-border production networks. More than five years after trading began, the AfCFTA aims to connect cotton growers, spinners, weavers, and clothing manufacturers across the continent. While signs of transformation are emerging, the challenge remains whether the agreement can make supply chains more efficient than importing textile inputs from Asia.
