Thomas Ngijol prepares a film dedicated to Thomas Sankara

Thomas Ngijol is set to direct a feature film titled 'Sankara' covering the four years of Thomas Sankara's presidency in Burkina Faso, from his rise to power at age 33 to his assassination in the coup d'état of October 15, 1987. The film will address his major reforms: national sovereignty, opposition to structural adjustment programs, mass vaccination, reforestation, and women's rights. This project marks Ngijol's shift from comedy to historical African works and raises the question of developing an African film industry capable of producing large-scale historical films.
