Three dead in new clashes over the gold deposit of Kalenga Manyi in Kasaï-Central

Violent clashes erupted between artisanal miners from Luiza and Lualaba at the Kalenga Manyi gold site, resulting in three deaths and around ten injuries. Sector chief Laurent Ntumba called for peace and dialogue between the authorities of the two provinces. Tensions around this site have persisted for six months, escalating since March, leading to a halt in mining activities.
