Three life terms for Kashmir’s Aasiya Andrabi fit India’s ‘broader pattern’

Aasiya Andrabi, founder of the banned women's organization Dukhtaran-e-Millat, was sentenced to three life terms by an Indian court on March 24. Her associates, Sofi Fehmeeda and Nahida Nasreen, received 30-year prison sentences. Although the judge found no evidence related to terrorism charges, Andrabi was convicted on lesser allegations, such as provoking hostility between communities.
