Time for NBA to appeal judgment affirming Blue Silks has elapsed - Nigerian Legal Society

The Nigerian Legal Society (NLS) stated that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has lost the opportunity to appeal a judgment that approved the introduction of the Blue Silks rank as an alternative to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title. This judgment, delivered by Justice Mohammed Umar Garba on January 27, 2026, granted judicial legitimacy to the Senior Counsel of Nigeria (SCN) rank. The Blue Silks is intended for non-litigation Nigerian lawyers who have held a law degree for at least 10 years.
