Tinubu approves 50,000 police recruits, hopeful on abducted pupils' return

President Bola Tinubu announced plans to recruit over 50,000 police officers and thousands of military personnel to strengthen security. In his Democracy Day address, he expressed hope for the safe return of schoolchildren abducted in Oyo and Borno states. The 2026 budget allocates a record N5.41 trillion for defence and security. Tinubu warned bandits and kidnappers to surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian state.
