Togo’s Sesame Sector Targets Production of 100,000 Tonnes by 2030

On October 28, 2026, sesame sector stakeholders established the Interprofessional Council for the Sesame Sector in Lomé, chaired by Anikpa-Matty Yawo. The council is targeting annual production of 100,000 tonnes by 2030, partly by strengthening support for producers.

Falana gave the authorities 14 days to act, warning that his firm would otherwise ask the Federal High Court to compel them to begin recovery proceedings. He cited court judgments and legislative investigations, and alleged that the government had failed to comply with rulings in favour of oil-producing states.

In Kpalimé, the EcoFemmes project, launched in March 2026 and funded with more than 52 million CFA francs by the International Organisation of La Francophonie, plans to train and support 130 rural women in organic farming and biogas production.
