Togo’s soybean production reached 287,000 tonnes in 2025, up from 150,000 tonnes previously, and the sector is targeting 300,000 tonnes for the 2026–2027 season. At open days held by the Interprofessional Council of the Soybean Sector (CIFS) in Lomé on November 5, its chairman, Koriko Mounirou, outlined a goal of raising yields from about one tonne to 1.8 tonnes per hectare through mechanization, better access to inputs and technical support from Germany’s GIZ. Togo is also seeking new markets: a phytosanitary protocol signed with China in October 2026 governs access for Togolese soybeans, following exports of about 293 tonnes there in 2023. A tax on soybean seed exports, in force since January 2026, is intended to encourage domestic processing, and the sector supports nearly 80,000 households.
