Tories are still biggest party on the right, claims James Cleverly

Shadow housing secretary Sir James Cleverly argued that the Conservatives are still the biggest party on the right in the UK, despite significant gains by Reform in Thursday's elections. Reform secured over 1,450 council seats and gained control of 14 councils, including in traditionally Labour areas. Support for the Conservatives fell by 11 points compared to 2022, although the party regained some traditional strongholds in London.
