Toronto: an artist creates a giant basketball hoop tree

At Biidaasige Park in Toronto, Cuban artist Alexandre Arrechea installed a metal sculpture called « Orange Functional », resembling a tree with over 20 basketball hoops at various heights. Visitors are free to bring their own balls and play without fixed rules, attempting shots on different hoops. The installation reimagines traditional basketball by creating a playful experience where balls passing through the hoops resemble fruits falling from a tree, blending sport, nature, and art.
