Touré Ahmed Bouah Announces CFA 3 Billion Refund to MIDD Teachers

SOPHIA SA CEO Touré Ahmed Bouah announced the end of the Akwaba City housing project and proposed a full refund of MIDD teachers’ contributions, totaling a stated CFA 3 billion. Launched in the late 2000s on a 78-hectare site intended to house thousands of primary-school teachers, the project had not produced a single foundation in 18 years. Bouah blamed the failure on the administration’s failure to approve the development plan, as well as disputes, legal proceedings, and leadership challenges among subscribers. Union representatives and the developer ended their partnership at a general meeting and press conference in Abidjan.
