Tragedy at Dakar Arena: How Two Workers Died at the Construction Site

Two workers died in a workplace accident at Dakar Arena in Diamniadio on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at about 3:13 p.m. They were installing lighting equipment from a lift; one was Senegalese and operating the equipment, while the other was Argentine and repairing the floodlights. According to the National Gendarmerie, an imbalance caused the lift to overturn, throwing both men to the ground; they died of their injuries after being evacuated.
