Tragedy at Santhie 2 Beach: Fishing Canoe Catches Fire, Several Victims Recorded

On September 20, 2026, a fire broke out on a fishing canoe near Santhie 2 Beach, resulting in three deaths and four injuries. The fire was caused by sparks from the engine igniting gasoline containers on board. The victims, whose bodies were taken to the Joal health district morgue, include Ndongo Diop, Babacar Sow, and Bada Ndour. The injured were evacuated for medical treatment.
