Trappes: Suspect in Racist Shooting Back in Custody After Psychiatric Evaluation

Kevin T., 39, returned to police custody on Monday, October 26, after questioning was suspended to assess whether his psychiatric condition was compatible with further interviews. National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor Olivier Christen said the examination found no clinical signs of a psychiatric disorder, and custody could continue until Thursday. The suspect acknowledges the acts but denies their racist nature; he is suspected of killing one person and injuring five others, including a 12-year-old girl, in shootings in Trappes and La Verrière on October 23. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said the psychiatric assessment did not change the characterization of the incident as a racist terrorist attack.
