A woman who was sexually assaulted by a man given a key to her hotel room was 'fundamentally failed' by Travelodge at every stage, an independent review found. Barrister Paul Greaney KC stated that the hotel's security policies at the time of the December 2022 attack in Maidenhead were 'not fit for purpose' to keep guests safe. The review also reported that room intrusions were occurring at nearly one in ten Travelodge hotels this summer, and that there was no policy addressing violence against women and girls. Travelodge apologized unreservedly to the woman and said it has made changes since March.
