Treasury cashes in on a bigger pool of idle State cash

A growing pool of public funds invested in interest-earning government securities is boosting the Treasury, which targets a total of Sh987.4 billion from the domestic market by June 2027. Government entities now hold over Sh500 billion in Treasury bonds and bills, driven by a strategy to invest surplus balances from public entities. The National Infrastructure Fund, with a seed capital of Sh310.3 billion, is one of the main contributors to this initiative.
