The Treasury has raised its domestic borrowing target by 52.29% to Sh1.66 trillion, indicating increased pressure on households and businesses. As of March 2026, Sh965.87 billion has already been borrowed. The government aims to mobilize about Sh904 billion from the domestic market to cover a financing gap of Sh1.79 trillion by the end of the financial year.
