Tribute to Judge Taswell Papier: Advocate for human rights and community justice

Judge Taswell Papier of the Western Cape High Court has passed away, leaving a legacy of commitment to justice and human dignity. A son of Mitchells Plain, he dedicated his career to serving working-class communities, particularly during the difficult periods of apartheid. An active member of the National Association of Democratic Lawyers (NADEL) since 1989, he played a key role in advancing access to justice and pro bono work, influencing legal practice in South Africa.
