TRS case: The truth behind Me Aïssata Tall Sall’s puzzling absence

Me Aïssata Tall Sall, chair of the parliamentary inquiry commission examining the government’s use of Total Return Swap (TRS) mechanisms, is currently outside Senegal. Deputy Rokhy Ndiaye, the commission’s first vice-chair, is leading hearings in her absence; no official confirmation or return date has been obtained. The commission is investigating a €650 million operation arranged in 2025 with First Abu Dhabi Bank and Africa Finance Corporation, which the opposition criticizes for lack of transparency and its cost. Hearings began on October 5 after all 129 members voting in plenary approved the commission.
