Trump tariffs hit Canada’s dairy farmers as US sales stall

Since the imposition of 50 percent tariffs on Canadian goods, including dairy products, exports of milk to the United States have significantly stalled. Casey Pruim, a farmer in British Columbia and chair of the provincial Dairy Association, stated that there is considerable uncertainty regarding the impact of these tariffs on the industry. Producers do not individually decide on exports, and the decrease in US demand could lead to a reduced need for milk in the province.
