TSC Moves Grade 3-6 Staff From Fixed Contracts to Permanent & Pensionable Terms

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced that all secretariat staff in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will transition from fixed-term contracts to permanent and pensionable employment, effective immediately from May 18, 2026. In a circular issued on June 8, acting CEO Eveleen Mitei stated that the move aims to enhance social security and staff welfare, as well as strengthen institutional capacity by retaining skilled expertise. Employees will contribute 10% of their monthly basic salary, while the commission contributes 20%, under the TSC Staff Retirement and Benefits Scheme. A three-month transition period is provided until August 18, 2026, for employees to review options and communicate their decisions.
