US singer Chris Brown avoids jail over UK nightclub brawl

American singer Chris Brown was sentenced Monday at Southwark Crown Court in London to eight months in prison, suspended for a year, after pleading guilty to affray over a 2023 brawl at Tape nightclub. Prosecutors alleged he struck a victim’s head twice with a glass bottle in what they described as a vicious, unprovoked attack; his plea avoided a trial on several other charges. Co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu also pleaded guilty to affray and received a four-month sentence, suspended for a year.
