Tunisia’s civil society faces growing pressure as crackdown widens

Tunisian authorities have intensified pressure on civil society, prosecuting activists and NGO workers, and suspending associations. Human Rights Watch documented escalating repression, with at least 47 people prosecuted and 10 held in preventive detention for over 14 months. Among those convicted is prominent human rights defender Saadia Mosbah, sentenced to eight years in prison on financial crime charges.
