Turkey: ‘It’ll be difficult to break’ — Bursaspor reacts to Iheanacho’s record

Kelechi Iheanacho became the first player in Turkish football to score in ten consecutive league matches after opening the scoring in Bursaspor’s 3-0 win over Muğlaspor on October 15. He surpassed the nine-match streaks set by Metin Oktay with Galatasaray in 1962–63 and Saffet Sancaklı with Kocaelispor in 1995–96. Coach Mustafa Er called the record exceptionally difficult to break and said he hopes Iheanacho extends the run, while also crediting the squad, club and administrative staff. The Nigerian forward will seek an eleventh consecutive scoring appearance against Pendikspor on Monday evening.

Provincial executive secretary Jules Fila Kimfumu set the start date for November 2 and the end of the competition for May 31, 2027, provided three grounds are available. The championship, originally scheduled to begin on September 15, was delayed by administrative and logistical constraints.
