Porn showing choking or incest to be banned from early November, government says

From 6 November, it will be illegal in England and Wales to possess or publish pornography depicting strangulation or suffocation, sexual activity between relatives, or adults pretending to be children under 16. The offences, introduced through amendments to the Crime and Policing Act passed in April, carry a maximum five-year prison term for publication; possession can include storing material on a phone, computer or in cloud storage. Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones said the rules target content that normalises violence, while Baroness Gabby Bertin, who led an independent review, called the change a necessary signal to platforms and society.
