2028 Women’s Club World Cup: Three Places Reserved for Africa

FIFA announced on October 22 the inaugural Women’s Club World Cup, to be held in the United States in 2028 and bringing together 19 teams every four years. Africa will receive three places, awarded through a ranking based on clubs’ results in continental competitions from 2024 to 2027; the details are still to be agreed with the CAF. Seven clubs have already been announced as qualified, including Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Club América and Corinthians, but no African club is among them. African teams competing in the CAF Women’s Champions League will also be aiming to secure a place at the tournament.
