Uber announces its departure from Nigeria and Uganda

The American ride-hailing company Uber announced the immediate cessation of its operations in Nigeria and Uganda, effective September 2, 2026. Founded in 2009, Uber had been operating in Nigeria since 2014. This decision comes as CEO Dara Khosrowshahi also announced a 10% reduction in the company's global workforce amid a cost of living crisis in Nigeria.
