Uganda is fast-tracking land acquisition for the Mulwanda border road connecting to Kenya to ease congestion at the Busia border crossing. Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga ordered the Ministry of Works to expedite land acquisition and open the border soon. The new border is expected to divert heavy trucks from Busia, reducing traffic and accidents, with Kenya having already completed its section of the road. Uganda's 12-kilometer stretch remains unpaved, and discussions between the two countries are ongoing to operationalize the border.
