Uganda suspends military cooperation with Turkey

Uganda announced on September 20 the immediate suspension of its military cooperation with Turkey due to tensions surrounding the extradition of Fred Lumbuye, a blogger critical of President Yoweri Museveni. The spokesperson for the Uganda People's Defence Forces stated that this measure will remain in effect until unresolved issues are addressed. Protests occurred outside the Turkish embassy in Kampala, supported by sympathizers of the Patriotic League of Uganda.
