Uganda: the 'rain makers' revered and criticized in times of drought

In Uganda, individuals known as 'rain makers' are believed to have the ability to bring rain through rituals, a role often passed down through specific clans. Joseph Weyusya, a former member of Inzu ya Masaaba, explains that these individuals do not choose their vocation but inherit it through ancestral tradition. In drought-affected regions, farmers place great hopes in these rain makers to save their crops.
