Uganda: The uncertain fate of opposition leader Kizza Besigye, incarcerated and ill

Kizza Besigye, former personal physician to President Yoweri Museveni, is incarcerated and ill in Uganda after being abducted in Kenya in November 2024. He has been charged with treason and brought before a military court, but the highest court ordered that he be tried in a civilian court. His health condition is concerning, and he was transferred from a prison in Kampala to a hospital near the capital.
