Uganda's first oil: Dangling lucky charm in the economy

Uganda's initial oil revenues could enhance taxation, debt, foreign currency reserves, and the country's creditworthiness ratings due to significant new export revenues. The country's crude oil has been branded 'Pearl crude', and the 1,445-kilometer East African Crude Oil Pipeline linking Tanga Port in Tanzania to Hoima district in Uganda is reported to be 92% complete by government officials.
