Alex Nelms, an English farmer, reported that his wheat harvest was severely impacted by a heatwave in May, resulting in the worst harvest of his career. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs stated that nearly 71.3% of England is in drought, with August rainfall at just 34% of the expected amount. Nelms' farm, which has no irrigation, faced a shortfall of 1,000 tonnes in harvest, equating to a revenue loss of $270,000.
