UK jailing of Indian sailor over Russia sanctions sets off ‘perfect storm’

Indian captain Ajay Pant was arrested in the UK after authorities seized the MT Smyrtos, the oil tanker he commanded, in mid-June over alleged links to Russia’s sanctions-evasion shadow fleet. The demonstration also featured a simultaneous salvo of more than ten rockets from the 600 mm Sniper multiple-launch system and around ten ballistic missiles fired from Wonsan toward the East Sea, traveling about 250 kilometers. The drills took place amid tensions over Freedom Edge exercises involving South Korea, Japan and the United States.
