UK police free suspect in ex-MP Ann Widdecombe murder investigation

A 26-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murdering former British government minister Ann Widdecombe has been released and is no longer a suspect. Police believe the killing occurred on Wednesday, 8 July, around 11:30 GMT, a day before her body was found at her home. There is no evidence of terrorism or political motivation. Widdecombe, known for her socially conservative views, served as a Conservative MP and later as a Reform UK spokesperson.

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, repelled a coordinated infiltration attempt by suspected ISWAP terrorists at Cross Kauwa in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. They inflicted heavy casualties and recovered a Sony camcorder containing intelligence linking the operation to foreign terrorist facilitators.
