UK self-determination push: Demanding a referendum is not a crime, activists say

A coalition of US-based pro-Biafra activists says Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB, committed no crime by demanding a referendum on Biafra. In a statement issued by the American Veterans of Igbo Descent, Rising Sun and Ambassadors for Self-Determination, they urged Nigeria to learn from the UK’s self-determination debate. The activists called for referendums to be recognized as a constitutional right in Nigeria and condemned what they described as the neglect of Kanu’s health in custody.
