Togo: FAO distributes farm inputs to 1,000 market gardeners in the Savanes

On October 23 and 24, 2026, 1,000 market gardeners in the Tône 4 and Cinkassé 2 communes of the Savanes region received improved tomato and onion seeds as well as fertilizer. The supplies were distributed in Korbongou and Kantindi, followed by Timbou, with 500 beneficiaries in each commune, to support dry-season farming and producers’ livelihoods. The initiative also aims to prevent conflict and strengthen social cohesion, particularly between displaced people and host communities. Since 2024, the Pro-SADI project has supported 1,300 market gardeners in the Savanes, while the 2026-2027 PURS response plan aims to mobilize about 18 billion CFA francs to meet the needs of 433,758 people.

He accused Pastef of putting internal political disputes ahead of Senegalese citizens’ needs and urged its supporters to end their divisions. Fall also criticized political officials for retaining their salaries, political funds and allowances while blocking a budget meant to help the public.
