In 2025, the UMOA Banking Commission imposed 11 sanctions on financial institutions in Senegal, ranking it second among the most sanctioned countries after Côte d'Ivoire, which received 20. The sanctions include four reprimands, two warnings, and five financial penalties, affecting credit institutions, a microfinance institution, and an electronic money establishment. A total of 71 sanctions were issued within the Union, with the majority targeting the banking sector.
