The United Nations General Assembly voted to adopt a new world map that more accurately reflects the sizes of countries, initiated by African states. The resolution, titled 'Correct the Map', aims to rectify a colonial-era injustice that has visually diminished Africa's size for 450 years. Togo led the African Union's campaign to limit the use of the Mercator projection, which distorts the size of land masses.
