UNHCR: more than 117.8 million forcibly displaced people in 2025

By the end of 2025, the number of forcibly displaced people worldwide reached 117.8 million, according to the UNHCR annual report presented Thursday by High Commissioner Barham Salih. For the first time in ten years, this number declined, mainly due to a significant increase in returns in Afghanistan, Syria, and Sudan. Among these people, 68.7 million were internally displaced and 41.6 million were refugees abroad.
