United States: Pete Hegseth Faces Impeachment Threat from His Own Party

Kentucky Republican Representative Thomas Massie urged Donald Trump to dismiss Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to prevent his impeachment. In September, Massie introduced a 34-page resolution containing eight charges, including waging war against Iran without congressional authorization. A House vote was postponed after Speaker Mike Johnson sent lawmakers home early for the election campaign, but Massie plans to force a vote when Congress returns. Democrats, through Hakeem Jeffries, have also said they would remove Hegseth if they win a majority, while the White House says he will not be replaced.
