In impoverished households in Benin, unplanned pregnancies disrupt family stability, increasing domestic chores and limiting school access for children, especially older siblings like Mauricette. The family of eight in Cotonou lives in poor conditions, with a dilapidated house, hygiene issues, and children often ill or undernourished. Several children do small jobs to support the family financially. Limited access to family planning, side effects, and partner opposition contribute to these unwanted pregnancies.
