Uranium: Niger Accuses France of Sabotaging Installations Before Departure at the UN

Niger's Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine stated at the 81st UN General Assembly that France deliberately sabotaged uranium sites in Niger before leaving, with no response from Paris. Tensions between Niamey and Paris have escalated since 2023, including the nationalization of the Imouraren site and disputes over missing uranium from Arlit. Zeine claimed Niger invested 30 billion CFA francs to restart production, now managed entirely by Nigerien engineers, and that the uranium stock belongs to Niger and will be sold transparently.
