Urban Banditry: The Government Intensifies the Fight Against Illegal Firearm Possession

The Congolese government has decided to intensify the fight against illegal firearm possession following an inter-institutional meeting between the Ministry of Justice and the Superior Council of the Judiciary. Causes of urban crime, such as the proliferation of light weapons and the alleged involvement of certain uniformed personnel, were identified. A directive has been issued to severely sanction those involved in the illegal circulation of arms, and a monitoring cell has been established to ensure strict oversight of the criminal chain.
