US delivers F-16V fighter jets to Taiwan as island eyes threat from China | Weapons News | Al Jazeera

The United States delivered two F-16V Block 70 fighter jets to Taiwan to bolster its defense against China's growing threat, which claims the island as its territory. The jets, built by Lockheed Martin, are part of an $8 billion deal for 66 F-16Vs approved during Donald Trump's presidency. Their arrival follows repeated Chinese requests for the US to cease arming Taiwan and comes a week after Trump met with Xi Jinping in Washington.
