US immigration officer shoots and kills man in Texas

A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Mexican national described as an 'illegal alien,' during a vehicle stop in Houston, Texas on July 7, 2026. ICE said Salgado Araujo attempted to evade arrest and rammed a law enforcement vehicle. The son of the victim disputed the official account. Democratic Representative Sylvia Garcia called for an independent investigation.
