The United States has lifted sanctions on Theint Win Htet, the daughter of a Myanmar businessman linked to the military, after she sued the US government. The move follows talks between the Biden administration and Myanmar’s government, indicating a shift from previous policies that sanctioned military leaders responsible for the 2021 coup. Theint Win Htet, who resides in Thailand, had her US credit cards blocked and her foreign bank accounts restricted, and had to abandon her studies at Columbia University. Her lawsuit was dismissed after her delisting, with her lawyer filing a voluntary dismissal notice.
