US military claims Strait of Hormuz remains open amid ongoing blockade

Despite a blockade on Iranian maritime trade and military attacks by Iran on commercial ships, the US military stated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping. US Navy Captain Tim Hawkins claimed that over 900 million barrels of oil have been transported through the strait since May. US forces have also redirected more than 100 ships attempting to violate the blockade and cleared mines from internationally recognized shipping lanes.
