U.S. sanctions against Rwanda’s Defence Ministry are “a step toward victory,” says UDPS youth leader Christian Lumu Lukusa

The UDPS youth league welcomed U.S. sanctions announced on October 28 against Rwanda’s Defence Ministry and Zigama Credit and Savings Society, but called them only “a step toward victory.” Washington accuses Kigali of deploying RDF soldiers in North and South Kivu alongside the M23, and says Zigama financed weapons purchases and facilitated transactions and gold transfers linked to areas controlled by the rebels. Christian Lumu Lukusa is calling for Rwandan troops to leave the DRC, an end to support for armed groups, and implementation of the Washington Accords and UN Security Council Resolution 2773. He says a definitive victory must also end the plunder of Congolese mineral resources.
