US to inject 271 billion FCFA into modernizing Ivory Coast's health system

On July 7, 2026, Ivory Coast and the United States launched the implementation of the 2026-2030 agreement, worth $487.18 million (271 billion FCFA) to modernize Ivory Coast's health system. The program, overseen by a joint committee, aims to strengthen the fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, as well as epidemic surveillance, laboratories, and health information systems. U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Munir Junaid emphasized the importance of a robust health system for economic development and social stability.
